Infinite Outdoors Casper WY: Behind the Scenes Filming Casper Stories with Sam Seeton

Hunting and fishing have deep roots in Wyoming’s culture — and in Casper, connecting to the outdoors is a huge part of why people visit.

In this episode of Casper Stories, we sat down with Sam Seeton, founder of Infinite Outdoors, to explore how technology is helping more people experience the outdoors in a safe, accessible way.

Here’s a look behind the scenes at how we captured Sam’s story — and why this shoot gave us a whole new appreciation for early mornings, muddy ponds, and fire ants.

🎯 The Story – Meet Sam Seeton and Infinite Outdoors

Sam Seeton, a Casper native and avid outdoorsman, launched Infinite Outdoors to solve a real-world problem:

How do hunters and fishers find safe, legal access to land in a state with so much private property?

How do you navigate public vs. private land boundaries without risking trespassing or safety concerns?

His answer: a smart, intuitive app that connects outdoor enthusiasts with private landowners, offering legitimate access to premium hunting and fishing spots across Wyoming and beyond.

Visit Casper partnered with Infinite Outdoors to promote access layers around Casper — making Sam the perfect character to highlight for Casper Stories.

Sam’s story also ties into the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship here: He was a winner of the Casper Start-Up Challenge, using his prize money to grow Infinite Outdoors from a local tool into a national platform.

🎥 Filming the Hunt and the River

We filmed this episode across two action-packed days:

Day 1: Filming a duck hunt east of Casper and river fishing on the North Platte

Day 2: Filming Sam’s interview

🎬 Gear Used

Sony FX6 Cinema Camera

Sony A7SIII Camera

Sony G-Master 24–70mm and 70–200mm lenses

DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone

Full camouflage gear (yes, even for the camera guys)

Because we couldn't move freely in the duck blind, I used zoom lenses to adapt quickly without needing to physically reposition myself — especially important when four guys (and a dog) are packed into a blind.

Later that day, we pulled a quick outfit change and relocated to the river. That visual shift — from hunting in camo to casting a fly rod into golden afternoon light — helped keep the episode visually dynamic.

📝 Pre-Production and On-Set Adventures

Pre-production for this shoot was all about logistics:

Early morning call times (up at 3:00 AM!)

Long drives east of town into prime hunting areas

Camouflage for the entire crew

Careful selection of lightweight, versatile gear

And of course — no good Wyoming story is complete without a little drama:

While filming Sam fishing, I stood too long without looking down... and ended up squarely on top of a fire ant hill. Within seconds, ants were crawling up my leg, biting everything they could reach — including, somehow, all the way up my neck.

🏈 Logan Wilson: A Local Star Joins the Story

One of the coolest aspects of this episode was including Logan Wilson, a Casper native and NFL linebacker, who partnered with Infinite Outdoors for a turkey hunt featured in the episode.

Logan's deep roots in the Casper community — and his love for the outdoors — made him a natural fit to appear alongside Sam’s story.

We integrated footage from that hunt, highlighting how Infinite Outdoors connects high-profile figures and everyday outdoor enthusiasts alike to the landscapes that make Wyoming special.

🖥️ Post-Production Workflow

The editing approach for Sam’s episode leaned into:

Energy and action for the hunting scenes

Calm and serenity for the fly fishing sequences

A clean, natural color grade emphasizing earth tones, golden light, and Wyoming’s big open skies

Deliverables Created

2–3 minute master episode

Two 30-second cutdowns

One 15-second cutdown

Widescreen and vertical versions

A curated B-roll library for Visit Casper

Behind-the-scenes photos from the hunt and river shoot

The goal was to blend excitement and accessibility — showing that whether you're a serious hunter or someone just looking for a beautiful day on the river, Casper has something for you.

🎙️ Personal Reflections on Filming Infinite Outdoors

This shoot stood out for its mix of technical challenges and pure outdoor fun.

Filming in a duck blind, riding the riverbank with waders, getting attacked by ants — it was all part of the experience. And it gave me a real appreciation for the kind of dedication Sam and his team have for creating responsible, respectful outdoor access.

It also reminded me that some of the best stories happen in moments you can’t script — like a dog bounding into frame mid-shot or a fish striking just when the light is perfect.
